10 junior children took part in the Chenderit cluster rounders tournament. The eight teams were split into two groups. Farthinghoe won all the group games and went through to the final against Greatworth. In a close final, Greatworth won 4 1/2 to 3 1/2 rounders. Well done to all the children who took part.
To celebrate the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Harry and Meghan) we held a tea party in the playground. Year 3 and 4 were lucky enough to go to Liddington for a 3 day residential. The children took part in a range of activities from rafting to Jacob's ladder. There was plenty of food eaten and lots of wet and muddy clothes to bring back home. Thanks to Mrs. Farrell and Mrs. Holloway for giving up their time for the trip. On Thursday, parents came in to look at our Frozen Worlds projects. From food chains to timelines, we displayed a lot of the hard work we have been up to this term. KS1 brought in their penguin homework and we saw some amazing projects. We also had a very successful book sale for Dogs for Good.
We (the environment ambassadors) have ordered a new bin for our fruit and vegetable waste. We are making a poster for the bin so everyone knows where to put their food waste. The bin is very noticeable due to its green flip lid. We want to do this to make our school more environmentally friendly. We hope that this will encourage more people to compost fruit and vegetables.
Today we had a swim-tastic gala with races and relays. Everybody acted like Olympic swimmers - I think we might have the new Rebecca Adlington or Adam Peaty. We played lots of games and had a brilliant time. We were all winners!
On Monday 19th March, the whole school performed a gymnastics display that our gym teacher, Katherine from Wade Gymnastics, helped put together. Reception did different balances; year one did different jumps; year two did different rolls and KS2 created their own group sequences to music. On 7th March, we went to Greatworth Hall Farm. These are the activities we took part in: holding the lambs, baking cheese and chive scones and measuring their fields. We all had a chance to hold one of the lambs, feed one and we even saw a new born lamb take its first steps. Then we baked delicious cheese and chive scones and thought about how it would be made on an industrial scale. In the afternoon, we went into the stubble turnip field and measured it with a trundle wheel. Some of us even took a stubble turnip home as a souvenir! We all had a LAMB-azing and BAA-rilliant time! Everybody in school has dressed up as their favourite book character to celebrate World Book Day. It is like our school is fictional with all the different characters in our classrooms. We’d also like to thank everybody who donated a pound for Dogs for Good. From perching on top of a treehouse roof to reading a book sitting in a wheel barrow, the whole of the School have taken part in the extreme reading challenge, the pupils of Farthinghoe School have gone out on an adventure to read a book in an extremely odd place. We are making a display out of all the photos and judging them, so that everyone can see what we have been up to this week. We appreciate people taking these photos for the display.
